Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the latest permanent expression to join the Distillery’s Ultimate Range. At just five years old, Wee Beastie is a feisty young creature with a formidable taste. Young and intensely smoky, this is a dram untamed by age. Matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, Wee Beastie is perfect for enjoying neat or as the mouth-watering main ingredient in a powerfully smoky cocktail.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance: Bright Auric.

Aroma: Intensely smoky on the nose, with a marked freshness characterised by herbs, pear, pine resin and aniseed.

Taste: Rich and textural, with chocolate, tar and cracked black pepper in the mouth. The finish is long with hints of fudge and savoury meats.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Blue cheeses and dark chocolate

ORIGIN

Islay, Scotland. Founded in 1815, the Ardbeg distillery is revered by connoisseurs around the world as the peatiest, smokiest and most complex of all the Islay malts, while being renowned for its delicious sweetness, a phenomenon known as “the peaty paradox”. Regarded today as the “Ultimate Islay Malt”, Ardbeg is a distinctive whisky with a compelling history. During the 1980s and 1990s, Ardbeg suffered from an uncertain future and was purchased by The Glenmorangie Company in 1997. Since then, the distillery has risen like a phoenix and today Ardbeg is well established as a niche, cult malt, with a passionate following.
