Established in 1985, Cloudy Bay was one of the first five wine makers to venture into Marlborough. Sauvignon Blanc is the iconic wine behind the Cloudy Bay tale. It defined New Zealand's wine and established the Marlborough wine region globally. It is the unmistakable aromas, ripe fruit flavours and fine structure that makes Cloudy Bay synonymous with premium Sauvignon Blanc globally. It is a fresh, aromatic & vibrant wine. The flavour is intense, concentrated & focused with mouth-watering acidity that gives textural intrigue to the palate. It is a hallmark expression of Marlborough.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance: Lemon Green

Aroma: The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc has an enticing nose, with appealing aromas of ripe honeydew melon, passionfruit, vibrant citrus and a subtle touch of fresh blackcurrant leaf.

Taste: The palate is concentrated and elegant, with hints of fresh sea air balancing out the warmth of the ripe fruit notes at the wine's core. Subtle tropical fruit characters are underpinned by freshening notes of makrut lime, lemongrass, meyer lemon and a touch of grapefruit skin.

FOOD PAIRING

Sauvignon Blanc is a natural match for almost any seafood. Some of our favourites at the winery include tempura oysters, locally-caught sashimi, and steamed mussels with garlic, citrus and parsley.

It’s also a great match for green salads and goats’ cheese. A hint from us: if it goes with lemon, it goes with Sauvignon Blanc.

ORIGIN

Marlborough, New Zealand. Created in 1985 by David Hohnen, founder of the Cape Mentelle estate in Australia, the Cloudy Bay vineyards extend to the mouth of the eponymous bay in New Zealand. This landscape, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Richmond Range mountains, is truly exceptional. Cloudy Bay, one of the first estates to be established in the Marlborough region, has made a huge contribution to making New Zealand one of the great names in “New World” wines. Expressive, refined and fruity, Cloudy Bay wines embody the spirit of the region.
