Product Detail

Matured in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks, this sublime 19 year old whisky is the epitome of an aged Ardbeg. Part of a highly sought-after and collectable Ardbeg series, 19 Years Old Batch 2 is a new permanent expression, released only in limited batches each year. With a subtle change to the batch recipe, this is a transformational dram. That being said, the impossible balance of Batch 1 is still ever-present in Batch 2’s taste profile, as well as the palatable parallels with the place that inspired it – Islay’s Singing Sands.

ORIGIN

Islay, Scotland. Founded in 1815, the Ardbeg distillery is revered by connoisseurs around the world as the peatiest, smokiest and most complex of all the Islay malts, while being renowned for its delicious sweetness, a phenomenon known as “the peaty paradox”. Regarded today as the “Ultimate Islay Malt”, Ardbeg is a distinctive whisky with a compelling history. During the 1980s and 1990s, Ardbeg suffered from an uncertain future and was purchased by The Glenmorangie Company in 1997. Since then, the distillery has risen like a phoenix and today Ardbeg is well established as a niche, cult malt, with a passionate following.
